Hi there! My name is Bonnie Capps and I grew up in Auburn, Alabama. I attended Auburn High School and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Sociology. I met my sweetheart, Matthew, during my senior year of college and while he was attaining his Masters in Landscape Architecture/Community Planning. We married in the fall of 2009 and his job with the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant moved us to Mobile. He is now the Executive Director of the Dauphin Island Park and Beach Board. We have a new baby girl who was born on her daddy’s birthday, January 21. Her name is Mary Nell and we absolutely love our life as a family of three! (Five if you count Charlie, the dog and Scout, the cat!)
Upon graduating from Auburn, I worked as an assistant pre-school teacher before we moved to Mobile. Since living in Mobile, I worked for a doctor’s office while attending Spring Hill College to pursue my Masters in Early Childhood Education. I have been home with Mary Nell while finishing up my last few graduate school classes. Anyone who knows me knows my love for all children, but I particularly love the “little” ones. I’m the fourth generation of teachers in my family and I am honored and thrilled to be a part of this fantastic program at the EEC! I will graduate in December and I feel so fortunate to already have my dream job! Since having a child of my own, a quote that I came across while working on a school project has really resonated with me and I plan to center my classroom on it. “Every child in your class is someone’s whole world.” –Unknown.
I’m so thankful that I have been blessed with this wonderful opportunity and I look forward to getting to know my students and their families!
